Jeanne's story Before Jeanne’s surgery in February 2004, osteoarthritis had worn away her active lifestyle. She could not get out of a chair or do laundry or housecleaning. At 61, Jeanne decided she was too young to feel so old. After surgery, Jeanne worked hard at her physical therapy and was able to return to many of the things she did before osteoarthritis stopped her.

Richard's story As the pain progressed, Richard had to start giving up the things he enjoyed. "Gardening, for instance, was just too painful. It was terrible." The pain made teaching difficult because of the constant standing. Richard eventually underwent knee replacement surgery and enjoys the way he’s able to move about and enjoy life again.
