Sigma® Rotating Platform Knees

DePuy Orthopaedics, a leader in rotating platform technology, has pioneered the innovative Sigma Rotating Platform Knees, which are designed to bend and rotate. Sigma Rotating Platform Knees also allow more natural movement with less implant wear compared to traditional knee replacement.1

What is a Rotating Platform implant?

The Rotating Platform Knee is based on a revolutionary technology, the mobile-bearing knee, pioneered 30 years ago by DePuy Orthopaedics. When you bend your knee, the surfaces of your joint roll and glide against each other, allowing your knee to rotate as it bends. Unlike traditional, fixed-bearing knee implants, rotating platform knee implants are designed to mimic this natural movement. This rotation reduces the stress and wear on the implant.1 More than one million Rotating Platform Knees have been sold worldwide.2 And studies show that even after 20 years, more than 97% of these implants are still in use.3

Learn about rotating platform knee implants

Women may be especially interested in this technology, since their knees rotate more than those of a man during normal movement. The Sigma Rotating Platform Knee allows for this.4

Important Safety Information

The performance of knee replacements depends on age, weight, activity level, and other factors. There are potential risks and recovery takes time. People with conditions limiting rehabilitation should not have this surgery. Only an orthopaedic surgeon can tell if knee replacement is right for you.
