Inspire: Patient Stories and Community
Jim's StoryIn 1963, Jim Whittaker was part of the first American expedition to summit Everest. After years of mountain climbing, Jim wasn’t surprised to learn his adventure-filled life had contributed to the development of severe knee osteoarthritis. The man who climbed mountains found he “had to use one leg at a time to go up the stairs. And it hurt!”
That’s when Jim knew he had to do something. Jim’s surgeon recommended knee replacement surgery for both knees. |
